These paths were once all linked across one large isle of graphite, until the Great Erasure splintered the isle and left the Pencil People scattered across the newly formed archipelago, forever stranded from their brethren.
Since the illustration before it depicted an unsullied topographical islandscape, this piece shows the aftermath of the great cataclysm that tore it apart. I expanded on the particulate pattern with solid black to give it simple depth and direction.
